Rhode Island Criminal Records

If you are looking for Criminal records in the State of Rhode Island, it isn’t quite as simple as you would think.  There are several reasons for this.  For one thing, Rhode Island has a new website.  For another, if you happen to type in “Rhode Island Criminal records” in Google or Yahoo or other search engines, you have to run through a couple of pages of listings to be able to find anything that is actually related to the Rhode Island State Government.  Once you find that, there are a few more clicks and several more web pages you need to go through to get where you want to go.

If you want to get directly to the right website, go to www.courts.state.ri.us/ and you will be in the right place.  Once you get onto the main page, which is the main site for the Judiciary of Rhode Island, you will be able to find the section for Criminal Information Search immediately.  When you click on that, you will be taken to a page that is entitled Rhode Island Judiciary.  There are a few sections to choose from that take you to the databases available in looking for Criminal records.

Contact information is easy to find as well.  On the main Judiciary of Rhode Island home page there is a section for Contact Information.  When you click on that section, you will be taken to a page that has several categories of listings.  The addresses and directions for all courthouses is on this page.  Click on that title and you will be taken to a complete list of all courthouses.  There is also contact information for the Judicial Roster, a Telephone Directory of all courts and departments, and two sections for “Main Telephone Numbers” for the New Kent County Courthouse and the New Traffic Tribunal.

There is a great deal of information available, once you figure out how to go about finding it.  Even with the issues involved in finding the official site, it is still best to use the official state site instead of one of the independent sites on the net, because the official site is still charged with keeping correct and up to date records.  Also, the official site will only charge official fees – no research fees or surcharges.

Official Rhode Island Criminal records may be difficult to find at first, but once you find them it should be easy to get the records you need.
